Volleyball Returns to Montana for Two Matches

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College women's volleyball team returns to the road this weekend for two Frontier Conference matches. Westminster will play at Great Falls (Mont.) on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the McLaughlin Center. They conclude the trip on Saturday with a match at Montana State-Northern at 2 p.m. in Armory Gymnasium.

Griffin Notebook
Westminster will hit the road with a 13-9 overall record. They are 6-5 in the Frontier Conference and currently sit fifth in the conference with that record. They are coming off a 3-1 loss at Montana Western last Saturday.

Westminster will play its next three matches on the road where they have a 2-4 record this season. If you include neutral site games, the Griffins have a 5-7 record in games outside of the Behnken Field House. They have a 12-1 record in matches in which they win the first set and are 8-0 when they hold two-set lead.

Ashley Marchant leads the Griffins with 243 kills and ranks sixth in the Frontier Conference in that category. Marchant has recorded double-figures in kills a total of 12 times this season and in eight of th elast nine matches. She also has 12 matches with at least 10 digs with nine double-doubles. The senior is second in the Frontier with 35 service aces and first with an average of 0.41 per set.

Alexis Aalona has picked up 193 kills and is hitting .190 this year. She has seven matches with double figures in kills and four double-doubles. Katie Vance is third on the squad with 143 kills and Stephanie Jones Morin has recorded 135 kills. Emily Atkinson is second in the league with 819 assists and ranks 41st in the NAIA at 9.76 per set.

Kyndall Kordakis is tops on the team with 387 digs and is third in the conference at 4.55 digs per set. She has 10 straight matches with at least 10 digs and 18 matches overall this season. Atkinson has 223 digs and three straight double-doubles. Jones Morin leads the team with 71 blocks with Vance picking up 52.

Against the Opposition
Westminster holds a 14-9 edge in the all-time series against Great Falls. UGF has won two straight after taking a 3-1 decision over the Griffins in Salt Lake City on Sept. 21.  The Griffins are riding a 17-match winning streak over MSU-Northern and holds a 17-2 edge in the all-time series. They claimed a 3-0 sweep over the Sky Lights at home on Sept. 22.
