Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – The 24th-ranked Westminster College women's soccer team was defeated 3-0 by Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Friday afternoon in Frontier Conference action.
The loss drops Westminster to 10-4-1 overall this season and 2-2-1 in conference games. Rocky improves to 11-0-2 and 2-0-1 in league action.
Rocky scored the first three goals of the game. They got goals from Mandy Achten in the eighth minute, Jaelene Zugmond in the 26th minute and Lauren Brophy in the 45th minute. Brophy and Janell Cabrera also recorded assists in the game.
The Griffins lone tally would come in the 81st minute on a strike from
Justine Jones. It was the fifth goal of the season for Jones.
Rocky had a 22-11 advantage in shots attempted with the Griffins putting five of their attempts on goal. Jones led the way with three shots for Westminster while
Rylei North,
Jaime Nelson and
Margo Hickman had two shots apiece.
Dayna Winter-Nolte suffered the loss in goal with four saves in the first half.
Jamie Wilkinson played the second half and made five saves.
Westminster will complete the weekend's road trip on Sunday when they face Great Falls (Mont.) at 2:30 p.m.
