Griffins and Rocky Play to 1-1 Draw

Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – The Westminster College men's soccer team picked up a 1-1 draw at Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Friday afternoon in Frontier Conference play.

Westminster is now 10-4-2 overall this season and 1-1-1 in Frontier action while Rocky goes to 10-2-2 and 1-1-1 in league.

Both teams scored on penalty kicks in the second half. Oliver Gore put Rocky ahead in the 68th minute with his PK. The Griffins would answer less than a minute later with a PK from Ryan Smith. The goal was the ninth of the season for Smith and his third by penalty kick.

Rocky held a 23-15 edge in shots in the game with Westminster putting 12 of their shots on frame. Smith led the team with four shots and two on goal. Jace Maxfield, Adam Bullough and Liam Harry finished with two shots apiece. Damir Sabanovic made 13 saves in goal to preserve the tie.

Westminster will return to action on Sunday when they play at Great Falls (Mont.) at noon. The winner will clinch at least of share of the regular season Frontier Conference title.
