Box Score ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Westminster College salvaged the final game of a three game road trip with a 2-1 win over Soka University on Sunday afternoon. Westminster (4-3) had dropped the first two games of the trip at The Master's College Tournament.
The Griffins took the lead in the 32nd minute as
Dennis Sellis put away a penalty kick. For Sellis, it was his team-leading seventh goal of the season and the sixth straight game he has scored. Soka (1-4) would tally the equalizer in the 58th minute with a goal from Akira Takahata.
Andrew Peabody scored the game-winner for the Griffins in the 88th minute. Peabody finished a strike for his first career goal with assists being awarded to Andrew Bullough and
Wilson Larson.
Both teams attempted 14 shots in the contest with the Griffins putting nine of their 14 on frame. Sellis led all Griffins with four shots while
Anthony Alcox had two shots and was the only other from Westminster to post more than one shot. Damir Sabanovc earned the victory in between the pipes with five saves.
Westminster will return to action on Friday when they host Kansas Wesleyan at Dumke Field. First kick is slated for 2 p.m.
