Box Score SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Westminster College women's soccer team pulled a 1-0 upset over No. 9 Cal State San Marcos on Friday afternoon.  Westminster picks up a second straight win away from home after starting the year 0-5-1 away from Dumke Field.

Margo Hickman scored her 10th goal of the season in the 20th minute and the Griffins (10-6-1) made it hold up the rest of the contest.  The fourth game-winner of the year for Hickman snapped a scoreless streak of seven games that dated back to Sept. 18.  She blasted a shot from 25 yards out that curled just inside the far post and also gave Justine Jones her third assist of the year.

San Marcos (13-3-1) dominated much of the action and finished the game with a 16-3 advantage in total shots.  The Cougars struggled to put the shots on frame as Griffins goalkeeper Dayna Winter-Nolte was only forced to make four saves while recording her sixth shutout of the season.

This is the second time this season that Westminster has defeated a Top-10 team after a 2-1 overtime win over Baker (Kan.) in late August.  They Griffins are now 5-3 against ranked opponents this season.  With 10 wins on the season they are one shy of tying the school record of 11 set last year.

Westminster will look for that 11th win when they face Soka University on Sunday.  The game with the Lions will begin at 1 p.m.
