Box Score 2 IRVINE, Calif. – The Westminster women's volleyball team went 0-2 during the first day of the Asics/Crowne Plaza Labor Bay Tournament hosted by Concordia (Calif.). Westminster began the day with a 3-0 loss to top-ranked Fresno Pacific. The Griffins then fell 3-0 against No. 2 Concordia. Westminster is now 2-4 on the season.
Westminster managed just 22 kills while hitting .090 in the opener with Fresno Pacific. The offense never found a groove and they hit just .088 in the first set and followed that with .033 in set two. Clotile Harris led the team with eight kills, but she hit just .033. Stephanie Jones added seven kills and hit .583 while
Kyndall Kordakis collected 12 digs.
Against Concordia, the Griffins started better hitting .212 and .205 in the first two sets. They dropped to .137 for the match after hitting -.033 in the final set. Westminster finished with 30 kills and 35 digs compared to 47 kills and 51 digs by the host squad. Harris again led the way for the Griffins, this time with nine terminations.
Ericka Evans added eight kills, five digs and two blocks.
Westminster is back in action on Saturday, September 4 with two matches. The action begins at 1 p.m. against No. 6 Biola with the night cap coming at 5 p.m. against Westmont.
