Winning Streak Halted at Six

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The 15th-ranked Westminster men's soccer team had its six game winning streak snapped at six after a 2-1 loss at Baker University on Saturday. Westminster jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage, but Baker scored two straight goals to seal the upset. The Griffins fall to 7-2 on the season and 1-1 on this three-game road trip.

Jace Maxfield gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead when he found the back of the net after a pass from Dennis Sellis in the 21st minute. Clay Stanger tallied the equalizer for Baker in the 44th minute to give them a spark heading into the intermission. Odaine Sinclair scored the game winner in the 64th minute when he finished a pass from Ethan Bauer.

Westminster would manage just three shots in the game an only two on frame. Baker would gather 14 shots in the game and put nine of those at target. Gabe Gonzalez and Ryan Holmes would record the other two shots by the Griffins. Nathan Young would suffer the defeat in goal despite making seven saves.

Westminster will complete this road trip on Sunday when they face 21st-ranked Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, Kansas. That game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
