Men’s Basketball Opens Tournament at Home against Great Falls

The Westminster men's basketball team begins the 2010 postseason as the No. 1 seed in the Frontier Conference Tournament. They host eighth-seeded Great Falls in an opening round game on Tuesday, March 2 at 8 p.m. in the Behnken Field House.

Westminster enters the tournament at 23-5 overall and they went 13-1 during the Frontier Conference regular season. The Griffins are ranked No. 4 in the NAIA coaches' top 25 poll with the final poll being released on Tuesday. They have won 10 consecutive games for the second time this season and are 11-2 at home.

The Griffins rank fourth nationally in scoring defense allowing just 61.3 points per game. Westminster opponents shoot 40.4% from the field and 31.4% from beyond the arc. They force 14.8 turnovers per game while recording 7.9 steals. Offensively the Griffins shoot 49.5% from the field to lead the Frontier Conference. The team scores 71.1 points per game and averages 33.1 rebounds per night.

Blair Prowse leads the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game. Prowse had 25 points with seven treys against Lewis-Clark State last Saturday. His 83 total threes is the 11th-most in the NAIA and he ranks 48th nationally by shooting 40.1% from beyond the arc. Ben Walker is second on the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game and has collected a team-best 163 rebounds and 39 blocks. Weston Anderson averages 12.8 points and leads the team with 109 assists.

Against Great Falls
Westminster went 2-0 against Great Falls during the regular season. They picked up an 81-54 win over the Argos in Salt Lake City on January 9. Westminster recorded a 75-46 win on February 5 in Great Falls. The Griffins are now 24-0 all-time against UGF.

Around the Tournament
The other opening round games feature No. 2 seed Montana Western playing host to No. 7 seed Montana Tech. The third seed is Montana State-Northern and they host the six seed Lewis-Clark State. The four versus five seeds game features Rocky Mountain playing at home against Carroll.

The semi-final games will be played on Friday, March 5 at the home of the two remaining top seeds. The championship game is on Monday, March 8 and will be hosted by highest remaining seed. For all the Griffins postseason information, visit westminstergriffins.com/playoffs.
