Box Score HELENA, Mont. – The Westminster men's basketball team won its third straight Frontier Conference championship on Saturday night behind an 80-57 win at Carroll College. No. 7 Westminster claimed a second straight outright title while winning a ninths straight game and improving to 22-5 overall and 12-1 in the Frontier Conference.
Westminster built a 41-26 halftime advantage by shooting 60.7% in the first 20 minutes. The Griffins finished the game shooting 52% from the floor and went 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. The collected 31 rebounds to 29 by Carroll while forcing the Saints into 11 turnovers and just 33.9% shooting.
Weston Anderson led four players in double figures with 20 points. Anderson shot 7-of-14 while grabbing three rebounds and three steals.
Blair Prowse added 18 points and was a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Michael Stockton and
Tanner Gregory were excellent off the bench with 16 and 12 points respectively.
Jeramie Hopson had a team-best seven rebounds and Stockton contributes three assists.
Andy Garland led Carroll with 23 points and added eight rebounds. Chris Media had 11 points, but shot just 5-of-16 from the field.
Westminster concludes the regular season on Saturday, February 27 when the host Lewis-Clark State College in the Behnken Field House. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the team recognizing its four seniors prior to tipoff.
