Westminster Earns Frontier Conference Championship

Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho – The Westminster men's basketball team won the Frontier Conference regular season championship with a 72-68 win over Lewis-Clark State on Saturday night. No. 8 Westminster held off a second half charge by L-C State to come away with the sixth conference title in school history. Westminster (25-4, 11-3 Frontier) grabbed 15 offensive rebounds that resulted in 19 points.

Geoff Payne led the Griffins with 26 points and 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. Danny Stosich had 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Westminster shot 48.3% for the game and had 34 points in the paint. Jeramie Hopson nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists for the Griffins.

Curtis Allen led L-C State (11-13, 5-9) with 24 points while Brian Duckworth had 22. The Warriors forced 18 Westminster turnovers and had three makes from beyond the arc.

Westminster will now play at home in every Frontier Conference Playoff game they play this season. Westminster will open the tournament on Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Montana Tech in the Behnken Field House.
