HELENA, Mont. – The Westminster women's volleyball team lost a 3-1 decision to Carroll College on Thursday night. Westminster had no answer for the offensive attack of Carroll in the 17-25, 26-24, 9-25, 8-25 loss. The defeat drops the Griffins to 6-12 overall and 3-3 in the Frontier Conference.
Talita Kresser led the Griffins with 11 kills, but struggled to hit just .085.
Becky Burke added six kills and 11 digs while
Ericka Evans had six kills and 10 digs.
Katy Waldie chipped in a season-high four kills.
Tahnie Blymiller was again stellar in the back row, compiling 22 digs in the four sets. As a team, Westminster had 76 digs and 35 total kills.
Carroll finished the contest with 65 kills and a hitting efficiency of .351, the second best efficiency by a Griffin opponent this season. Christina Smetana led the Saints with 19 kills and had zero hitting errors for a .655 hitting efficiency. Haylee Otteson added 15 kills. Three players for Carroll recorded at least 20 digs, led by 25 from Maureen Frauenholtz.
Westminster concludes the road trip with a contest against Rocky Mountain College on Saturday, October 3. The game from the Fortin Center in Billings, Montana is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
