SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's soccer team plays the final home game of 2009 on Saturday, October 3. The Griffins host Rocky Mountain College at 1:00 p.m. on Dumke Field. Westminster is currently 4-7-1 overall, but they lead the Frontier Conference with a 1-0-1 record, sitting percentage points ahead of Carroll. Rocky comes to town at 1-1-0 in the conference and 2-6-0 overall.
Rocky leads the all-time series against the Griffins 4-1 and have won the previous four meetings. Rocky claimed a 2-1 overtime victory on Dumke Field to open the 2008 season. The lone win by the Griffins in the series came on September 16, 2007. That was a 2-0 decision on Dumke Field.
Sarah Swenson leads the Griffins with five points. She has recorded two goals and one assist through the first 12 games this season.
Megan Maldonado and
Heather Hillam have each recorded two goals and four total points. Seven different players have recorded one assist.
Lindsay Bekken has posted a goals against average of 0.74 through her 489 minute between the pipes during her freshman season. Bekken has an 87.9 save percentage and one shutout.
Dayna Winter-Nolte has played 610 minutes in goal, recording a 2.21 goals against average. Winter-Nolte has recorded three shutouts while making 18 saves.
