Box Score HAVRE, Mont. – The No. 5 Westminster men's basketball team shot 62.5 percent in a 42 point second half to claim a 74-58 win over Montana State-Northern on Friday night. The game was tied at 32 at halftime, but Westminster (15-1, 1-0 Frontier) used 17 second half points from
Geoff Payne to puil away for the win.
Payne finished the night with 31 points and 13 rebounds to lead all players.
Nate Sanchez chipped in 14 points off the bench. The Griffins committed just 10 turnovers and won the rebounding battle 34-26.
Northern (12-5, 0-1 Frontier) was led by Chris Johnson and his 17 points. Clay Greenland shot 7-of-8 ad finished with 14 points. The Lights made seven 3-pointers, five by Johnson, and blocked six shots in the game.
Next for Westminster is a Saturday night contest with Great Falls. Westminster will tipoff at 8:00 p.m. against the Argos.
