SALT LAKE CITY - The Westminster Griffins improved to 4-1-2 on the year after taking care of Dakota Wesleyan 5-0 on Friday evening. The Griffins used a 26-5 advantage in shots and played 27 different players in the win. Val Campbell and KC John totaled three saves in the combined shutout.
Ryan Smith put Westminster on top in the 11th minute when he put an Andrew Tovstein cross past the keeper from 15 yards out. Smith scored again in the 56th minute, his third goal of the year. Rue Van Dyke scored in the 22nd minute, Cameron Wynhof tallied in the 37th minute, and Mark Stoker rounded out the Griffin goals in the 64th minute.
Westminster returns to Dumke Field on Saturday, September 13 when they face Embry-Riddle Aeronautical (Ariz.) at 1:30 p.m.
