Box Score 2 IRVINE, Calif. - The Westminster Griffins went 0-2 on the first day of the Concordia Labor Day Tournament today. They opened with a tough three-set loss to 21st-ranked Vanguard. Then Friday evening they dropped another three-set match to fourth-ranked Biola. The Griffins now sit at 0-5 on the young season.
In the Vanguard match, Westminster tallied 20 kills in the three sets and had a negative hitting efficiency.
Ericka Evans and
Janelle Kendall led all Griffins with five kills each. Ali Culp recorded four kills, four service aces, and five digs in defeat.
Against Biola the Griffins hit .054 and got a team-best nine kills from Kendall. She also put up two service aces and two blocks.
Leigha Dangerfield dished out 17 assists to go with her seven digs.
Westminster returns to action on Saturday with matches against Westmont and top-ranked Fresno Pacific.
