Dan Quinn is the head coach of the Westminster Griffins cross country and track and field programs, a role he has held since 2012. Under his leadership, the program has seen significant growth in both numbers and quality.
Before joining Westminster, Quinn had a distinguished career at Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt Lake City, where he served for 21 years as a teacher, coach, dean of students, and former athletic director. As the head coach of the track and cross country programs, Quinn led Judge Memorial to four cross country and eight track state championships, along with 14 runner-up finishes and 40 region championships.
Since Westminster joined the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) in 2015, Quinn has coached 164 RMAC All-Academic honorees, three All-RMAC First Team, and four All-RMAC Second Team athletes in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track and field. During the 2019-20 indoor track season, his athletes, including Katie Scott (800m), Grace Cobabe (Pentathlon), and Aiden Urban (800m), achieved the program’s first NCAA Provisional qualifying times/marks.
Prior to Westminster's RMAC membership as an NCAA DII program, Quinn coached the school’s first-ever cross country All-American and a two-time All-American in the Marathon during the outdoor track season. Under his guidance, eight Westminster student-athletes qualified for the NAIA National Championships in cross country and indoor and outdoor track.
Quinn's coaching excellence has been recognized with multiple awards, including six UHSAA Track Coach of the Year honors and five Cross Country Coach of the Year titles. He also coached the 2008 indoor national champion in the 2-mile, along with six All-Americans and hundreds of All-State recipients.
Quinn's athletic career includes playing football at the University of Idaho before transferring to the University of Utah to compete in the decathlon. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Utah and a Master of Science in Sports Medicine from the United States Sports Academy.
