Westminster Wins Slalom Title, Finishes Second in Overall Standings

SUNDAY RIVER, Maine – The Westminster men's alpine ski team finished second overall at the USCSA National Championships after winning the slalom national championship on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins tied Sierra Nevada College for the overall title but finish second on tiebreakers.

Westminster won the team slalom title after posting a combined time of 313.63, almost two seconds ahead of Sierra Nevada College. The top three Griffins finished first, fifth, and 12th overall to lead them to the championship.

Marc Perathoner won the individual national championship after placing third on Thursday and winning the slalom event title today. Perathoner won the slalom event by completing his two runs in a combined time of 1:42.28. He led following the first run after posting a time of 49.14. His second run was the fourth fastest at 53.34.

Lorentz Gedde-Dahl finished fifth overall after going 1:44.97 in his two runs. Gedde-Dahl went 51.02 in his first run and followed that with a 53.95 in his second run. Jacob Ringbrandt posted a combined time of 1:50.36 to finish in the 12th position. Ringbrandt bounced back from the 19th-best opening run to finish third in the second run at 53.31. Jens Aune rounded out the field for the Griffins with a two-run time of 1:50.36 to finish in 24th place.

This is the second consecutive year that Westminster has finished one spot out of the title spot to Sierra Nevada. The Griffins thought they had positioned themselves for the title after Saturday's slalom event, only to fall short due to tiebreaker rules.
