Ski Teams Compete at Weber State Invitational

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's and women's alpine ski teams will compete in the Weber State Invitational this weekend. The meet will be held at Snowbasin in the Wildcat Bowl and will feature 2 giant slalom races and one slalom race over the three days of the event.

The slalom event will be held on Friday, January 29. There will be a giant slalom event held on Saturday, January 30 and another on Sunday, January 31. The action begins at 10 a.m. each day with the second round of start times slated for 1 p.m.

The Griffins men's team jumped to No. 1 in the USCSA rankings that were released on Tuesday by CollegeSnowSports.com. Westminster was No. 2 in the previous poll. They are coming off a first-place finish at the Rocky Mountain Invitational held last weekend in Red Lodge, Montana. They claimed a first-place result in the giant slalom and the second slalom races. Westminster placed second in the first slalom event at the Rocky Invite.

The women's team remained No. 1 in the new poll by CollegeSnowSports.com after sweeping the three events at the Rocky Mountain Invitational. The Griffins claimed victories in the giant slalom event on January 22 and then swept the slalom events on January 23 and 24.
