Ken Hall played two seasons for the Westminster College men’s basketball team and left a lasting impression. In those two years with the Parsons, 1967-68 and 1968-69, Ken scored 1,723 points. That is more than any other player in school history. He averaged 33.1 points per game during his career, playing in 52 games in two seasons. Ken shot 46.6 percent from the floor during his career and made 81.2 percent of his free throw attempts. He would also pull down seven rebounds per game.

During his senior season, Ken led the NAIA in scoring on his way to being named second team All-American.  He scored 905 points during the 68-69 campaign for an average of 33.5 per contest in an era before the three point arc. Ken shot 46.4 percent from the field that season while also connecting on 84.5 percent at the foul line.  Ken would also grab 5.2 rebounds per game that season.

In a game against Western State on January 17, 1969, Ken scored a school record that still stands today with 55 points. In that game, Ken made 22 field goals and 11 free throws in the Parsons victory.

Ken averaged 32.7 points per game during the 67-68 season with a total of 818 points scored. He shot 46.6 percent from the field that season and 77.4 percent at the charity stripe. He would also rank second on the team that season with an average of 8.8 rebounds per game. Ken would rack up 49 points in a win over Cal Lutheran on December 23, 1967, and then score 50 as the Parsons defeated Regis on January 27, 1968.

In the two seasons that Ken played with the Parsons, the team compiled a 36-15 overall record and they won the 1969 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship. That was the school’s first RMAC title and it came in just the second year as a member of the league.  Ken was named first team All-RMAC in 1969, becoming the first Parson to be honored by the conference. The .706 winning percentage with Ken on the team is the second-best for a two-year span in school history.

In an excerpt taken from The Etosian, the Westminster Yearbook, Hall was described like this:   “A host of other records added to Hall’s fame as the sparkplug of Westminster’s championship team. Professional scouts were impressed with Hall’s jump shot, his team play, his defense and his exciting behind-the-back passes. Hall’s playing career at Westminster had been a period of spectacular scoring, unselfish team play and distinguished sportsmanship. Ken Hall had been an All-American in every sense of the word.”

After graduating from Westminster, Ken signed a professional contract with the Denver Rockets of the American Basketball Association. He would eventually settle in New York City with his wife Carol and their son, Kenny Jr.  Ken worked for the New York City Juvenile Detention Center and he passed away in October of 2010.
