COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its 2020-21 women's golf coaching poll and players to watch list. The Griffins received one first place vote and were picked to finish fourth with 87 points. The Griffins begin their season this weekend at the Swan Memorial in Thornton, Colo., hosted by Colorado Christian (CCU).
CCU was picked to finish first with four first-place votes and 107 points and Colorado Mesa was picked second with 102 points and three first-place votes. CSU-Pueblo got three first-place votes and came in third, just a few points ahead of Westminster, with 91 points. Regis was picked seventh and received one first-place vote, but has opted out of the fall season and will not compete until the spring.
The coaches' poll was voted on by all 12 head women's golf coaches that are set to compete this year. Coaches could not vote for their own institution. The Preseason Golfers to Watch were selected by each institution.
"We continue to move up the rankings in the RMAC going into our 3
rd season of NCAA DII and RMAC competition," Head Coach
Denise Larson said. "We anticipate our strongest team yet, and believe we are serious contenders for the conference title in the spring."
