COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its 2020-21 men's golf coaching poll and players to watch list. The Griffins were picked to finish fifth, with 38 points, a few points behind UCCS and ahead of Colorado Christian (CCU). The Griffins begin their season this weekend at the Swan Memorial in Thornton, Colo., hosted by Colorado Christian (CCU).
Colorado School of Mines, CSU Pueblo and Colorado Mesa were picked to finish at the top. Mines had 63 points and received seven first-place points, Pueblo had 50 points and two first-place votes and Mesa had 43 points.
The coaches' poll was voted on by all 12 head women's golf coaches that are set to compete this year. Coaches could not vote for their own institution. The Preseason Golfers to Watch were selected by each institution.
The Griffins return four golfers from last year's team--juniors
Masen Ward (Moab, UT, Grand County HS), Isaac Headrick (Thornton, CO, Mountain Range HS), and
Alec Williams (Moab, UT, Grand County HS), and sophomore
Max Lunt (Pleasant View, Utah, Weber HS)--and complete the roster with three additions--sophomores
Davis Amis (Salt Lake City, Utah, Cottonwood HS) and Bryson Hirabayashi (Syracuse, Utah, Utah State University), a transfer from Utah State, and freshman
Zach Dallimore (South Ogden, Utah, Bonneville HS)
Masen Ward and
Max Lunt were named to the RMAC Golfers to Watch.
