GUNNISON, Colo. – The Westminster track & field team brought the 2017 outdoor season to an end this week at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Western State Colorado University on Sunday through Tuesday.
 
Westminster's women's team finished 13th after recording four points during the week. The men tied for 12th without scoring any points.
 
Payton Schiff led the scoring for the Griffins with her 3.25 points. She earned three of those in the Women's 1,500 Meter Run by placing sixth in the final. She posted the fifth-fastest time in school history at 4:52.04 in the final. Schiff made the final by placing 11th in the preliminary race with a time of 4:54.73.
 
The team's other point came in the Women's 4x400 Meter Relay where a team of Lindsey Hall, Naena Bland, Emily Schmitt, and Schiff placed eighth with a school record time of 4:06.85.
 
The duo of Bland and Hall posted strong finishes in the Women's Heptathlon. Bland scored 3,719 points to finish ninth while Hall had a personal best of 3,432 points to finish 11th. Bland set personal best marks in the 100 Meter Hurdles and Long Jump during the two-day competition. She also posted a time of 2:25.96 in the 800 Meter Run to win the race and rank eighth in school history. Hall was second in the 800 with her personal best time of 2:30.05.
 
Schmitt put her name in the school's top-10 in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:26.84 to place 10th in school history.
 
Allison Carson hit a distance of 10.68 meters in the Women's Shot Put to place 16th. Her distance was the longest of the year by a Griffin and the second-best mark in school history.
 
Kylie Harrison was ninth in the Women's Javelin after a throw of 33.79 meters. The longest throw by a Griffin this season is the ninth-best mark all-time at Westminster.
 
Jillian Leis posted a personal-best in the Women's 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:09.89.
 
On the men's side, Joe Cremer narrowly missed scoring points for the team in two different events. He was 10th in the Men's 400 Meter Dash after posting a time of 49.78 seconds. The fastest time by a Griffin in the event this season is sixth-best in school history. Cremer also finished 10th in the Men's 400 Meter Hurdles with his time of 59.79 seconds.
 
Lasana Trawally posted a time of 11.46 seconds in the Men's 100 Meter Dash to rank sixth in school history.
 
It was a strong weekend for the Westminster throwers and jumpers. Dawson Edwards leaped a distance of 5.09 meters to set a season-best by any Griffins and rank eighth in school history.
In the same event, Raymond Bertheaud jumped 4.61 meters to set a personal-best and rank ninth in school history.
 
Anthony Perryman hit a distance of 38.56 meters in the Men's Javelin – another season-best mark by a Griffin – and the second-best throw in Westminster history. Perryman also set a personal-best with a distance of 24.65 meters in the Men's Discus.
 
Dylan Chatters put his name third in school history with his mark of 38.01 meters in the Javelin. Robbie Decker had a personal-best of 6.86 meters in the Men's Shot Put.
 
Adams State claimed the women's team title after scoring 147 points. The men's championship was claimed by Western State with 150.5 points.
