OGDEN, Utah – The Westminster track & field team opened the season at the Wildcat Indoor Winter Open hosted by Weber State University. The Griffins set one school record and had 11 times/marks that rank in the top-10 in school history.

The school record came in the men's 55 Meter Dash when
Lasana Trawally finished his heat in 6.78 seconds. Trawally placed 11th overall in his first collegiate race.

The men's 55 Meter was a strong race of the Griffins overall. Adding to Trawally's mark,
Mitchell Sims had the second-fastest time in school history at 6.84 seconds.
Dylan Chatters finished the race in 6.97 seconds to record the fifth-best time in school history.

Payton Schiff opened her final indoor season by placing second in the women's Mile. Schiff finished the race in 5:18.61 to notch the second-fastest time in Westminster history. She also joined
Naena Bland,
Emily Schmitt, and
Allison Wright on the 4x400 Meter Relay team that recorded the school's fifth-best time of 4:35.55.

Bland had another top-10 time in the women's 800 Meter Run by finishing the race in 2:28.72. Schmitt followed right behind at 2:29.23 to rank seventh in school history.

Allison Carson placed 12th in the women's Shot Put by hitting a distance of 9.61 meters. That is the third-longest mark in Westminster history.

Joe Cremer notched a pair of top-10 marks on the day. He went 1:56.98 in the men's 800 Meter Run to rank fifth in team history. Cremer then joined
Will Carrington,
Dylan Chatters, and Sims for a time of 3:40.68 in the 4x400 Meter Relay. That ranks as the 10th-best time in the event in school history.

Jacob Stelter broke the school's top-10 in the men's mile with a time of 4:46.77. That is 10th on the Griffins' all-time list.

Westminster returns to action on January 13-14 at the BYU Cougar Collegiate Indoor Invitational. The meet will be held at the Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah.
