Oliver Lange of the Westminster College men's track & field team became the first Griffin to compete at the NAIA National Championships on Saturday. He ran in the Marathon at the meet in a field of 54 competitors.
Lange finished with a time of 2:34.13 and finished fifth in the race. The sophomore from Pleasanton, Calif. was second among all of the sophomores in the field and posted a career-best time. The result also earned Lange another Westminster first. On Monday, Lane was named a NAIA All-American, becoming the first Griffins to receive the honor in track & field.
The result at the National Championships capped a strong year for the Westminster track & field teams. In just the second year of the program, Westminster sent an individual to both the Indoor National Championships and the Outdoor National Championships.
